1) Billing and Auto-Renewal
When you purchase a Teaching While Queer membership, you authorize recurring charges based on the plan you select (monthly or annual, as displayed at checkout). Your membership will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
2) How to Cancel
You can cancel anytime by:
- Logging into your account and following the Membership / Billing cancellation steps, or
- Emailing membership@teachingwhilequeer.org from the email address on your account
Cancellation stops future renewals. You will continue to have access until the end of your current paid billing period.
3) Refund Policy
Because membership provides immediate access to digital content, community spaces, and/or live events, payments are generally non-refundable.
However, we may offer a limited refund in specific situations:
- Duplicate charge or billing error: full refund of the duplicate/erroneous charge
- First-time member courtesy refund: if requested within [7 / 14] days of the initial charge and there has been minimal usage (e.g., limited content access). (Optional—include only if you actually want to offer this.)
- Unauthorized transaction: we will investigate and may refund if confirmed
No prorated refunds are provided for partial billing periods unless required by law.
Note: Some processors explain that cancellations generally stop future charges and do not automatically generate prorated refunds. Stripe Docs+1
4) Refund Request Process
To request a refund, email membership@teachingwhilequeer.org with:
- Your full name
- Email used for membership
- Date of charge and amount
- Reason for request
If approved, refunds are issued to the original payment method. Timing depends on your bank/payment provider. (PayPal also notes refunds return to the original funding source.) PayPal+1
5) Failed Payments, Retries, and Past Due Accounts
If a payment fails, your payment method may be retried. If payment remains unpaid, your membership access may be paused or canceled until payment is resolved.
6) Plan Changes
If you upgrade or change plans, the checkout flow will disclose the price and when changes take effect. Any immediate charges will be clearly shown before you confirm.
7) Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
If you file a chargeback/dispute with your bank or payment provider, we may pause access while it’s being reviewed. We encourage members to contact us first so we can try to resolve billing issues quickly.
8) Taxes
If sales tax/VAT is added where applicable, it will be shown at checkout and on your receipt. Refunds, when issued, will follow the same tax treatment.
9) Policy Updates
We may update this policy. Changes apply going forward and will be posted with a new “Last Updated” date.
