Teaching While Queer (“Teaching While Queer,” “we,” “us”) operates the membership community and related services at [www.teachingwhilequeer.org] (the “Site” and “Services”).

2. What This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information in three main ways: (a) you provide it, (b) we collect it automatically, (c) we receive it from service providers.
A. Information you provide
- Account & profile info: name, email, username, pronouns (if provided), organization/school (optional), location (optional), and other profile fields you choose to share.
- Membership & purchase info: membership tier, transaction IDs, purchase history, and related billing records.
- Community content: posts, comments, messages, uploads, event RSVPs, and anything you submit in member spaces.
- Support requests: messages to support, feedback, surveys, or reports.
B. Information we collect automatically
- Device & usage data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, timestamps, referral URLs, and actions on the Site.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used for login/session management, preferences, security, and analytics.
C. Information from third partiesPayment processors (Stripe): we receive confirmation of payment and limited billing details.

4. How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- Provide and operate the membership Services (account access, community features, events, resources)
- Process payments, renewals, cancellations, and receipts
- Communicate with you (service updates, support responses, membership notices)
- Maintain safety and integrity (fraud prevention, rule enforcement, moderation)
- Improve the Services (analytics, troubleshooting, product improvements)
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms
5. How We Share Information
We may share information:
- With service providers who help us run the Services (hosting, email delivery, analytics, community platform tools, payment processing). These providers may process data only as needed to perform services for us.
- With other members, depending on what you choose to share in your profile and posts (e.g., username/profile fields, public posts in member areas).
- For legal and safety reasons if we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect rights/safety of members and our organization.
- In organizational changes (rare): if we reorganize, merge, or transfer assets, data may be transferred as part of that process.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Community Visibility & Member Content
Member spaces are designed for community sharing. Please share thoughtfully:
- If you delete your account, some content may remain visible (e.g., discussion threads) unless removal is feasible; we can de-identify where appropriate.
- We may remove content that violates Community Norms.
- Posts/comments may be visible to other members based on the space settings.
7. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Keep you logged in and maintain session security
- Remember preferences
- Understand site usage and improve Services
You can manage cookies through your browser settings (note: some features may not work without certain cookies).
8. Email + Communication Preferences
We may send:
- Transactional messages (receipts, membership status, security alerts) — required to provide Services
- Community/news updates — you can opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link
9. Data Retention
We keep personal information as long as necessary to:
- Provide Services
- Maintain financial records for compliance
- Resolve disputes and enforce terms
You may request deletion (see “Your Rights” below). Some data must be retained for legal/accounting reasons.

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong password and do not share login credentials.

Our membership community is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the age required by your local law). If you believe a child has provided information, contact us for removal.
13. International Users
If you access the Services outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. or other locations where our service providers operate.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post updates with a new “Last Updated” date. Material changes may be communicated by email or within the membership platform.
