I’m Bryan (they/them), a queer theatre educator and the founder of Teaching While Queer. I built this community because I know firsthand how isolating teaching can feel—especially when you’re navigating schools, institutions, or arts spaces that weren’t designed with queer educators in mind.
Teaching While Queer began as a place to tell stories and build visibility, but it has grown into something deeper: a space for connection, reflection, and collective care. This community exists so you don’t have to do this work alone. Whether you’re here to share strategies, ask hard questions, process what’s happening in your classroom or institution, or simply feel seen—there is room for you here.
My hope is that through this online space you find connection, affirmation, and moments of relief. I hope you find people who understand your context, your challenges, and your joy. And I hope this community becomes a place where you can show up as your full self—professionally and personally.
When you’re ready, I invite you to introduce yourself in this forum. Share as much or as little as feels right. We’re building this together, and I’m grateful you’re part of it.
